Parent Responses to Transition

Newchurch Primary School

The transition meetings were well attended and questionnaires were completed by some of the parents.  The questionnaires showed a very positive picture that all parents are receiving the right information that they want to know about their child’s transition into a new year group.  Parents asked for maths and grammar workshops in the new academic year related to specific year groups.

From this information we planned with SLT dates for the new academic year in September 2016 to deliver workshops to meet the parent’s needs.

Grammar, Maths, Spelling, Phonics and Reading workshops.

The year three parent who wanted support with behaviour and additional needs had a meeting with the class teacher and the SENCO.  The parent and the child now have plans in place to support them at home and in school.  The school devised a plan to set up a breakfast club for children and parents who need support.  The child now comes to school early every morning and has breakfast in the nest with a member of staff who delivers nurture groups within our school.
