Parent Responses to Workshops

Newchurch Community Primary School

Workshop Questionnaire

Autumn Term 2016

From the Transition Questionnaires in September it showed that parents would like maths, grammar and phonics training to help them to support their children’s learning.

In previous years we have held workshops, but they have been half way through the school year or close to the SATS. In the Parent Board meeting we discussed possible dates and what information the parents would find most useful. From all this information the SLT team planned and delivered along with the class teachers the appropriate workshops for each year group or key stage.

The questionnaires from the workshops were very positive and each workshop had at least 15 parents representing the children. The only feedback for improvement was saying having more workshops and maybe broken down into smaller steps.  From this we have planned to deliver workshops for year 2 and year 6 expectations especially for the SATS in the spring term.

From speaking to parents, we found that child care could sometimes deter them from attending the meetings.  Therefore we provided a crèche at the E Safety meeting, but hti s still didn’t have an impact on the number attending.

For all the parents who didn’t attend or couldn’t make the workshops all the information was added to the website along with the power points and handout information.
